The govt has provided Rs 6 cr limit under excise. This means roughly a turnover of 20 kg annually. This is an amount which will cover more than 90 per cent of the jewellers in India. Thus, almost everyone involved in the jewellery business is covered under excise as the exemption limits are too less.
